Miro Video Converter – Drag multiple files!

December.13.2011

My favorite tool for converting video is definitely Miro Video Converter.  It is a small open source project that converts just about any video format to mp4, ogv, webm, etc.  It works great and is unobtrusive.  My only complaint is that you can only convert one file at a time which is really annoying when I have 80 videos on my flip camera and need to convert the entire set to mp4.  Well…since the miro project is open source, I downloaded the source code and modified it so that I can drag multiple files or an entire directory to the file selection area.  So now it looks more like the screenshot included with this post.  Seems to work great!  It converts each file to the selected output format and then the window closes when finished.  This allows me to just drag an entire folder over to the converter and then walk away.

My disclaimer:  I haven’t tested this with the auto iTunes upload yet and I probably won’t since I don’t care.  Also, I’ve only modified the Windows code as I don’t own a Mac.

You can download my version of the updated source code here (zip file): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25217918/miro%20source%20code.zip

Or if you just want the .exe you can replace your current .exe with my version here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25217918/MiroConverter.exe
